Hypnotherapy for Calm Pregnancy and Childbirth

Pregnancy can be an exciting time but it can also be challenging. We may experience morning sickness and minor ailments associated with the progressing pregnancy (such as backache and heartburn for example),  or struggle with anxiety over the pregnancy itself; scans, check-ups and tests; horror stories told by well-meaning friends and family or depicted on TV; or anxiety or fear about the forthcoming birth. Keeping anxiety and fear to a minimum throughout pregnancy and childbirth leads to a calm mother, calm birth experience and calm baby.


Hypnotherapy is very effective in helping pregnant parents to approach birth in a positive and calm way, feeling prepared and in control.


By reducing the anxiety and fear that makes pain more acute, hypnotherapy breaks the Fear-Tension-Pain Cycle associated with births and replaces it with the Calm-Relaxed Cycle, promoting a positive birth experience and enhanced bonding for mother, partner and baby.

  • Learn techniques to help you keep your level of fear and anxiety to a minimum, from as early in your pregnancy as you like, that will help right through to when the baby is born
  • Understand the role of positivity and the chemical response this brings in counteracting the physiological and neurological causes of pain

  • Allow yourself to trust that your body is perfectly designed to birth your baby
  • To prepare yourself mentally for birth
  • Use self hypnosis by practicing at home


Birth partners are also very welcome come along to sessions if you want them there .

There's no ideal time to start – whether you have just found out that you're pregnant, or you're close to the due date – whenever you're ready is the best time!


Remember, a calm birth doesn’t have to mean at home in a pool with candles – its whatever you want it to be.
